CITY TERRACE
Location: Los Angeles | Type: Residential | Year: 2026
This residential project explores the reinterpretation of vernacular architecture through contemporary construction and detailing. The design focuses on clarity of form, material presence, and cultural reference, resulting in a compact building that is grounded and deliberate in its expression. The house is conceived as a simple mass shaped by thickness, curvature, and surface articulation rather than ornament.
This approach is expressed through the stucco envelope and sculpted parapets, which give the facade depth and weight. Mosaic tile is selectively integrated into the exterior surfaces to introduce texture and color while remaining secondary to the overall composition. Natural materials, including carved wood doors, decorative windows, and exposed timber vigas, reinforce a connection to local building traditions and climate-responsive strategies, resulting in a residence that is contextual, durable, and clearly articulated.
